The attorney

Shawn Jaffer

A litigator who has spent his career suing insurers, lenders and data companies on behalf of individuals, now focused on making at-fault insurers pay what a collision really costs the owner of a high-value vehicle.

Shawn Jaffer is a Texas attorney with offices in Dallas and Houston. Over the course of his career he has managed more than a thousand consumer finance lawsuits against insurers, banks, lenders, debt collectors and credit reporting companies, including a federal jury trial verdict in 2026.

Finance first, then law

Before law school, Shawn built a career in finance. He holds a Master of Science in Finance from Northeastern University in Boston and a bachelor's degree in economics from Georgia State University, and earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta.

Diminished value disputes are valuation disputes. The insurer's position rests on a formula; ours rests on market data. Shawn reads an appraisal, a comparable-sales set and an insurer's 17c worksheet the way the other side's analysts do, which is why adjusters tend to take a second look at the number when the demand comes from this office.

Why diminished value, and why luxury vehicles

Most Texas drivers never learn that the at-fault insurer owes them for the value their car lost on the history report. Those who do are usually offered a formula number a fraction of the real loss. On a mainstream sedan, the gap may not justify a lawyer. On a Porsche, a G-Class, a Range Rover or an Escalade, it often does, and the insurer is counting on the owner not knowing the law. We focus on those claims because they are the ones where legal representation changes the outcome.
